Why Sunday Is My Favorite Day In Cali
People often ask me why I've stayed in Cali for so many years.
The answer is simple.
Sundays.
There are few places in the world where a Sunday can look like this:
A sunrise hike up Tres Cruces while the city slowly wakes up below.
A refreshing swim in the rivers of Pance or Pichindé.
A mountain bike ride through the green hills surrounding the city.
A walk through Ciclovida, where thousands of people fill the streets on bicycles, rollerblades, running shoes, or simply enjoying the morning sunshine.
A long lunch with family or friends.
Maybe a barbecue.
Maybe a cold beer.
Maybe both.
Later in the afternoon, a stroll along the Boulevard del Río or through the colorful streets of San Antonio as the city settles into its slower Sunday rhythm.
It's easy to focus on the challenges. Cali can be quite chaotic.
The traffic.
The headlines.
The imperfections.
But Sundays remind me why so many people fall in love with the city.
The mountains.
The rivers.
The weather.
The people.
The pace of life.
And those moments where you remember that life doesn't always have to be rushed.
For me, Sundays are still the best day of the week in Cali.
Some of my current Sunday favorites:
☕ Breakfast & coffee
• Cafe Gardenia
• Kuty Avenida 6
• Baraka Panadería Ancestral
🍽️ Lunch
• Pampero Granada (steak and sangria Sunday)
• Mirador Rio Pichinde (zero fancy, 100% authentic)
• Peru Peñon (amazing seafood, pisco sour and chicha morada)
What's your perfect Sunday in Cali? Maybe we will add it to the list :)
