Why Cali May Be the Most Underrated Big City in Latin America
I've traveled 60+ countries and lived in Denmark and Colombia.
And after spending more than a decade in Cali, I've come to a conclusion that might surprise some people:
Cali may be one of the most underrated cities in Latin America.
Before anyone gets upset, let me be clear.
It's not perfect.
I probably wouldn't move here if my goal was to build a corporate career, climb the ladder, or chase the highest salary possible.
And if you're raising young children, there are probably other places I'd consider first.
Like any Latin American city, Cali has its challenges.
But that's not what makes it special.
Why Sunday Is My Favorite Day In Cali
People often ask me why I've stayed in Cali for so many years.
The answer is simple.
Sundays.
There are few places in the world where a Sunday can look like this:
A sunrise hike up Tres Cruces while the city slowly wakes up below.
A refreshing swim in the rivers of Pance or Pichindé.
A mountain bike ride through the green hills surrounding the city.
A walk through Ciclovida, where thousands of people fill the streets on bicycles, rollerblades, running shoes, or simply enjoying the morning sunshine.
A long lunch with family or friends.
Maybe a barbecue.
Maybe a cold beer.
Maybe both.
